I can see how the combination of the two items can seem unappealing at first since these two items are usually enjoyed separately. But since I happen to love both and I'm also pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new foods I figured I'd give it a try. Well it certainly proved to be different but I can imagine this relish on meat like chicken or pork. It was an interesting balance with the sugar, vinegar, and pepper. The three ingredients created a tangy and spicy aftertaste. It was definitely worth trying and the effort was so minimal that I really won't have any excuse not to make this again!
Ingredients:
* 1 Red Onion
* 1 small can of Crushed Pineapple
* 2 large Cloves of Garlic
* 1 Green Chile Pepper
* 1/4 cup of Sugar
* 1/2 cup of White Wine Vinager
* 1 Tbsp of Basil
* Dash of Salt
Cooking Directions:
On a cutting board dice the onion and mince the garlic and green chile pepper.
In a medium pot add all of the ingredients and bring them to a boil.
Cover and let simmer for roughly 20 minutes stirring occasionally to completely dissolve the sugar.
Once cooked down scoop the relish into a bowl and serve over your chosen meat.
