She was pretty strange but at least I can say she was not boring. I never ate one with her since I was usually asleep in the middle of the night but I have memories of the smell drifting into my dreams. Somehow, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich would always appear somewhere in my dreams when she deep fried these sandwiches in our kitchen. It still makes me chuckle.
But for whatever reason, I started to crave one of these (uber-bad-for-you) sandwiches. These are straight out horrible for you...I hate how awesome they taste. How unbelievable and unfair it is my roommate stayed so skinny eating all of these and in the wee hours of the night, too! For my heart's sake I'll probably just stick to grilling the peanut butter and jelly sandwich but I know now why she made so many of these - they are freakin' delicious!
Ingredients:
* 2 pieces of wheat bread
* Peanut Butter
* Strawberry Jelly
* 1/2 cup of Vegetable Oil
Cooking Directions:
In a small frying pan add the oil and heat over medium heat.
Spread a desired amount of peanut butter and jelly over one slice of bread and then cover with the other slice.
Place the sandwich in the heated oil and cook for only about 30 seconds on one side before flipping and cooking the other side.
Remove from heat and plate on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
Slice in half and eat hot.
